My daughter is getting in trouble at school because I lied to her!?

i would explain to the principal why your daughter was behaving that way, and i would explain to your daughter that she cant act that way in public, that it is inappropriate for humans to act that way in front of other humans and that it is more for dogs than people [she is too young to know about sex, and youre right, she would tell everyone who would listen if you told her anything about sex. lol.]

To us it maybe a big deal. But the principle has other issues to deal with. That he/she most likely does not even remember. Why stir it,when its already settled.. Let it go... but do make it clear to your daughter that this behavior is not tolerated. Next time take the time to better explain yourself. Good luck! We all learn from our mistakes, though.

I definately agree you shouldn't punish her. I think you should be honest with her teacher, so the teacher understands why she was doing it. You'll be surprised that the teacher should understand, this kind of thing is quite common with children of various ages and I dont think anyone will think what you told your daughter is silly, as I agree with you, she is too young for the real facts.
You should also ask the teacher why she felt it necessary to send her home. I think it is better not to make a really big deal of these things, as the bigger the fuss the more the children will think about it and probably ask more questions!. Ask the teacher that if anything like this happens in the future, to simply tell both the children that it was not good behaviour and simply redirect them to a proper activity within the classroom and inform you at pickup time.
My son is 5, and we have been getting away with simply telling him that some things are for adults (or in this case dogs) and that children are not supposed to do certain things.

oh goodness,i'd tell her principle the truth, and explain what happened,or your could say that she saw some dogs doing it and she was imitating them and trying to act like a dog,but importantly, you should tell him/her that your sorry and you will handle this behavior yourself.

you could tell her that it is bad and you will get in trouble for it,and she will get punished the next time she does that!

I think you need to fess up to the principal. You should have just said "that's the way dogs play sometimes" and then told her that people don't play that way, just animals.

4 years old is way to early for the birds and the bees. the best way to fix this is to talk with the principal and explain what happened, but also tell your daughter that the dogs were rough housing and that she isn't allowed to rough house at school. Or that it's a special rough housing only dogs do.and that people don't play like that. It will be a funny story when she is older though, haha.

wow-you need to take your daughter back & talk to the teacher & Principal-that's crazy they send her home as young as she is-they should have called you first, &/or request a parent-teacher conference over it.
