Will a tanning bed tan last longer than a sunless/spray-on tan in a swimming pool?

Postby bardrick » Fri Sep 03, 2010 5:15 am

I know chlorine in a swimming pool will slowly fade away the sunless tan and any tanning products a person use on their skin....but what about a tanning bed with actual UV lights on your skin? I'm thinking the tanning bed option will last longer in the swimming pool. Any experiences from anyone?

I'm going to Vegas in 2 weeks and I want to party in the pool for a couple of hours...but I don't want to look pale. What's the best option for me to use?

DO NOT fake tan, they are very unhealthy to your skin, and the fake tans ACTUALLY DO NOT provide a UV protected tan...

the best bet is go out get some sun buddy, let yourself mildly burn and keep putting lotion on it, not sunscreen Vitamin E lotion, keep your skin hydrated.

Agree with Martial- if you must use a fake tan get a spray on-sun beds are dangerous.

A spray tan will last for about a week I believe-by which time your natural tan will have developed.

Edit: Just saw your update-this link might help:

If you go out in the sun with a fake tan-be careful- you won't notice yourself burning!

for 10-15mins @ a time: just apply some olive or coconut or carol's daughter browning oil & go out in the sun [it's good for you in moderation: the best way to get vitamin D] :: tanning beds send harmful radiation throughout your body & it isn't worth it & like the other answerer stated: spray tans have toxic chemicals in them & so do most sunless tanning lotions: with the exception of brands like aqua tan & alba =]

Tanning beds are NOT good for your skin either! They are worse many women and young girls get skin cancer from using tanning beds any kind! Spray tans are not bad for you ! I have great skin and ve gotten a couple of fake tans and they were at a very nice price! I was also able to get in the pool and it did not fade away! My number one tip is if you get a spray tan use the bathroom before you get it all done and pee and mess it up on your legs :(
