on what's considered attractive?

Women starving themselves so they wont look "fat", getting plastic surgery, breast enchantments, etc. Men taking steroids, working out too much and hurting their bodies, penis enlargements, trying to come off as "cool", etc etc.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it's still the beholder's call. People assume that other people behold beauty in certain ways, and they are generally correct.

Also, just because it is a cliche doesn't make it true. Evidence: Third time's the charm. Sometimes, you get a hole in one! Or two.

To at least make a good impression, and no matter how many times people reject this idea, it is true that the first impressions do work. Also, while saying that 'beauty is in the eyes of the beholder' is true, we can also not deny the fact people WILL go by looks since that's the first thing that strikes your attention when you meet people for the first time. Let me give you an example -- you have two hand-written letters, one in a shabby un-intelligible writing, and the other in a precisely measured/practiced, almost calligraphic + aesthetically beautiful handwriting -- which letter would you want to read first? =P

I really do believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I've met people that, at first glance, you don't find them appealing whatsoever, but...once you get to know them, their humor, their knowledge, their love of life and people...their "looks" completely change.

Because. In the US everyone strives to be an individual. But, at the same time, they all more or less want to look like that one individual. Really though? Insecurities.

because that is what the beholder believes is beautiful. But if you can find the beholder, I'll go kick his chauvinistic ***.
